Terms of use
The rules of the room. The most important one: points are not money, and nothing here is a wager.
The one thing to understand before anything else: points are not money. They cannot be bought, sold, cashed out, withdrawn or transferred. They have no monetary value of any kind. Nothing on this site is a wager, no money is ever at stake, and no prize with a cash value is offered for winning. You are playing for the table and for bragging rights.
Who these terms are between
58 All Out is operated by RK. By creating an account you agree to these terms. If you do not, you are still welcome to read everything on the site without one.
You must be 18 or over
You confirm this when you create an account. If we find out you are not, we will close it.
Your account
- One account per person. Extra accounts created to farm points will be removed along with their points.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account. Do not share your sign-in link.
- Choose a display name that you would be happy to see on a public leaderboard. We may change names that are abusive or impersonate someone.
- You can delete your account at any time, and everything goes with it.
How the points market works
Every contract asks a yes or no question about Bangladesh cricket. A price of 72¢ means the room collectively gives it a 72% chance. If it happens, the contract settles at 100 points. If it does not, it settles at nothing. YES and NO always sum to 100¢.
Some things follow from that, and they are worth stating plainly:
- Prices come from our server, not from your browser. The price you are filled at is the price the database holds at that moment, which may differ from the one on your screen.
- Live data is delayed. Our cricket feed runs roughly 30 to 60 seconds behind the broadcast. If you are watching the match, you will sometimes know something the price does not.
- Settlement is final. Where an outcome is ambiguous, delayed or disputed, we decide, and we will explain how. Matches abandoned or altered by rain or other interruption are settled on the official result.
- We may correct errors. If a bug, a bad data feed or a mistake on our side produces an obviously wrong price or an incorrect settlement, we may reverse the affected trades and put balances back. We will say publicly when we do.
- The model can be wrong. Our win probabilities are our own estimates and carry no guarantee of accuracy.
Fair play
Do not use bots or scripts to trade, create multiple accounts, exploit a bug rather than reporting it, or otherwise manipulate the leaderboard. We may suspend accounts and remove points where we see this. Finding a bug and telling us is welcome and we would rather hear from you than not.
Rewards
We may from time to time offer items such as merchandise to people at the top of the table or taking part in promotions. These are gifts at our discretion, not winnings, and are never a conversion of points into anything of value. Any such offer will have its own terms.
What we publish
Our articles, commentary, editorial voices, design and code belong to us. Cricket statistics come from a licensed commercial feed and remain the property of their provider. Player names and match facts are stated for the purpose of reporting. We do not publish team logos or player photographs.
Anything you post in comments remains yours, but you give us permission to display it on the site. We may remove comments that are abusive, defamatory or off-topic.
The service is provided as it is
We make no promise that the site will be available without interruption, that the data will always be accurate or timely, or that it will be free of bugs. We are a small independent publication, not an exchange. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site. Since nothing here involves money, that loss should be limited to disappointment.
Ending things
You can close your account whenever you like. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. If we close the site altogether, we will give notice and you will be able to export your data first.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and the courts there have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer elsewhere, this does not remove rights you have under your own local law.
Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced on the site, not slipped in quietly.
